Maine’s outdoor season is short, so the real question most of the year is where to play indoors. The good news: the state has a genuine cluster of dedicated indoor clubs, most of them around Greater Portland, plus strong options in the Midcoast, central Maine, and the Bangor area. Maine’s dedicated indoor pickleball & racket clubs (membership & day-pass)

If you want reliable indoor courts on a membership or day-pass — not just an open-gym night — these are Maine’s main dedicated facilities. Most cluster around Greater Portland, with strong options in Brunswick, Waterville, Biddeford, York and the Bangor area. Court counts below are what we’ve verified; membership tiers and drop-in rates change often, so confirm current pricing with each club directly.

Greater Portland (the densest cluster)

• Apex Racket and Fitness — Portland. A full racket-and-fitness club with 9 indoor courts plus tennis, squash, racquetball and a Courtside Bar & Lounge. Portable nets are provided and you line your own courts. Membership club — call for guest/drop-in options.
• Foreside Fitness & Tennis — Falmouth. One of Maine’s leading indoor tennis-and-pickleball centers: dedicated hard courts, a pro shop, locker rooms and lessons on site. Courts are reservable, so book online or call ahead.
• Pickleball Maine — Falmouth. A Portland-area club built around organized open play — a good first stop if you want games rather than a court booking.
• The Picklr — Westbrook. The national Picklr franchise, membership-based, with a strong founding-member community and regular in-house tournaments.
• The Wicked Pickle — South Portland. Indoor courts paired with a full restaurant and bar — a social, welcoming spot right next to Portland.

Southern Maine coast

• Seacoast Pickleball — York. 8 enclosed courts and one of the highest-rated clubs in the state — worth the trip if you’re in the York/Kittery area or coming up from Portsmouth, NH.
• Bounce Pickle — Biddeford. A dedicated indoor facility covering the southern-Maine gap between Portland and the coast.

Midcoast

• Maine Pines Racquet and Fitness Center — Brunswick. A longtime racquet club with 5 indoor courts lined on the club’s tennis courts, a second-floor viewing area and a bar lounge. Notably, Sunday open play runs 10am–noon — free for members, a $4 drop-in for non-members — — confirm it’s still running before you go.

Central Maine

• Champion’s Fitness Club — Waterville. 8 indoor lined courts with a dedicated PPR-certified coordinator running the program. Drop in for scheduled open play or join as a member.

Bangor area

• Armstrong Tennis Center — Hampden. Tennis and pickleball, indoor and outdoor, serving the greater Bangor region — the main indoor option once you’re north of the coast.
