Who are the players to watch at Worlds?
The players to watch at the Pickleball World Championships are the defending champions, plus the pros who just won in Hong Kong. Last year’s titles went to:
- Men’s singles: Federico Staksrud.
- Women’s singles: Anna Leigh Waters.
- Men’s doubles: Hayden Patriquin and Staksrud.
- Women’s doubles: Waters and Anna Bright.
- Mixed doubles: Waters and Ben Johns.
Form matters too. At the Hong Kong Slam, which ended October 25, Patriquin and Staksrud won men’s doubles 11-6, 11-8 over Johns and Gabe Tardio without dropping a game all week. Waters won women’s doubles with Bright and mixed with Johns. Hunter Johnson and Andie Dikosavljevic each won a second straight singles title.
The PPA also names Len Yang, up from No. 43 to No. 25 in the world rankings since April, and Rachel Rohrabacher, who had eight silver medals last season without a gold.
What’s at stake at the World Championships?
A lot. A PPA Major title is worth 3,000 ranking points in every division, which the tour says is enough to reshuffle the season race in one weekend. The $1,648,641 in total payouts covers five pro divisions, appearance fees included. Our world rankings explainer shows how those points add up.
There’s a second prize this week. The PPA Challenger Showdown runs November 5–7 alongside the main draw, and eight of its players leave with a 2027 PPA Tour contract. We explain that route in how to become a pro pickleball player.

Can amateurs play at the Pickleball World Championships?
Yes. The amateur draw plays on the same courts as the pros, with brackets by skill level and age, starting at $89 per division. You register through pickleballtournaments.com.
- Spectator tickets: from $25 a day, or a weeklong grounds pass from $100.
- Same venue, earlier: the MLP Nations Cup runs October 30 to November 1 at Brookhaven Country Club too (see our MLP standings explainer).
- Closer to home: no PPA Major comes to New England. Our New England tournament calendar lists events you can drive to.
