Short answer: Hayden Patriquin is a 21-year-old pickleball pro from Yucaipa, California, now based in Boca Raton, Florida, who turned pro in 2022. He is No. 2 in the PPA’s men’s world ranking, with 14,450 points, as of November 2, 2026. He has 12 career titles on his PPA athlete page, including back-to-back World Championships in men’s doubles.
The 30-second version
- The background: started at 13, introduced by his grandfather, and quit baseball to focus on pickleball.
- The résumé: 12 titles on his athlete page, and men’s doubles gold at the 2024 and 2025 World Championships.
- The ranking: No. 2 among men, behind only Ben Johns, as of November 2, 2026.
- The 2026 season: mixed doubles gold at Nationals with Anna Bright, then back with Federico Staksrud and a Hong Kong title in October.
- Steal this: his hands. Compact, wrist-driven volleys win the firefights at the kitchen line.

Who is Hayden Patriquin?
Hayden Patriquin is an American professional pickleball player on the PPA Tour and in Major League Pickleball.
His PPA Tour athlete page lists his birth date as September 20, 2005, his hometown as Yucaipa, California, and his current home as Boca Raton, Florida. It also lists him as right-handed and a pro since 2022, and gives his nickname as “Big H”.
The PPA bio says his grandfather introduced him to pickleball at 13, and that he is one of the few players on tour with no racquet-sport background before pickleball. Baseball was his other sport. When The Dink profiled him in November 2023, he was 18 and “one of the youngest players on tour”.
That non-tennis path is why I like pointing to him at our courts. Plenty of New England players come to pickleball with no racquet background at all. He’s proof you can reach the top without one.
What has Hayden Patriquin won?
Hayden Patriquin has 12 career titles on his PPA Tour athlete page. The PPA’s own all-time title table credits him with 8: none in singles, 5 in men’s doubles and 3 in mixed. I’m reporting both numbers rather than picking one.
The 8 titles in that table, by event:
- 2024: men’s doubles at the Sacramento Open, the Virginia Beach Cup and the PPA Finals with Federico Staksrud, plus the World Championships with Riley Newman. He also won mixed at the Daytona Beach Open with Jorja Johnson.
- 2025: men’s doubles at the World Championships, with Staksrud again. The Kitchen’s recap has them beating JW Johnson and CJ Klinger 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-8.
- 2026: mixed doubles at the Mesa Cup in February and at the National Championships in September, both with Anna Bright.
The Nationals mixed final was a clean one. Bright and Patriquin beat JW and Jorja Johnson 11-9, 11-3, 11-7, per the PPA’s stats recap. Our Nationals results post has every final.
Where does Hayden Patriquin rank in 2026?
As of November 2, 2026, Hayden Patriquin is No. 2 in the PPA’s men’s World Pickleball Ranking, with 14,450 points, behind Ben Johns. That’s a combined ranking across disciplines, not a pure doubles number. Check the PPA rankings for the latest, and see our PPA Tour points explainer for how the number is built.
Who does Hayden Patriquin play with in 2026?
He started 2026 with Christian Alshon in men’s doubles, and went back to Federico Staksrud at the start of the 2026-27 season.
- Early 2026, with Alshon: the pair lost the January Masters final to Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio 11-9, 11-4, 11-5, and reached the Mesa final against the same team, Pickleball.com reported.
- From Nationals on, with Staksrud: Pickleball.com’s Nationals recap put it simply: “Hayden Patriquin is back with Federico Staksrud”.
- Mixed: Anna Bright, his partner for both 2026 mixed titles.
The reunion is working. At the Hong Kong Slam in October, Patriquin and Staksrud beat Johns and Tardio 11-6, 11-8 in the final. Pickleball.com called it their second title of 2026.
What MLP team does Hayden Patriquin play for?
He plays for the St. Louis Shock. MLP’s 2026 roster list shows him as a “Kept” player, so St. Louis held on to him rather than drafting him. Our MLP draft explainer covers how keepers and picks work.
What paddle does Hayden Patriquin use?
He’s a Franklin player. His PPA athlete page lists the Franklin C45 Dynasty 16mm. Our Hayden Patriquin paddle page has the specs.

Steal this from Hayden Patriquin’s game: fast hands
Patriquin’s hands are his calling card. The Dink described his “lightning quick hands”, and a Pickleball.com breakdown opened with: “If you want fast hands like the top pros in the world, look no further than Hayden Patriquin.” In that piece he explained where his power comes from: “A lot of people use a lot of shoulder, but I use more wrist.” He added that he doesn’t recommend snapping the wrist, but adding shoulder and wrist together.
You won’t match a 21-year-old’s reflexes. You can copy the mechanics:
- Paddle up and out front. Keep the paddle at chest height, arm out in front of you, not too far and not too close. A paddle at your waist is already late.
- Short swing, quick wrist. In a hands battle, the backswing is the enemy. Punch through the ball with a compact motion. Our hands battles guide has the drill.
- Backhand-ready in the middle. Most fast exchanges come at your body. The Dink singled out his “killer two-handed backhand”, and our two-handed backhand guide shows why it helps on balls at the body.
- Know when not to fire. Fast hands win counters, but only off balls above the net. Our when to speed up guide covers the decision.
One 10-minute drill: stand at the kitchen line with a partner and volley back and forth at chest height, with no bounces and no backswing. Start slow and speed up. When you can hold 20 in a row, go cross-court. More drills by level are in the Learn hub.
