What was the Hong Kong Slam?
The Hang Seng Bank Hong Kong Slam was the last of 10 PPA Tour Asia stops in 2026, played October 19–25 at Kai Tak Arena, according to PPA Tour Asia’s recap.
Despite the name, it was not a Major. PPA Tour Asia billed it as Asia’s first 1,500-point event, and the PPA’s main schedule lists it in the Cup tier. Our World Pickleball Rankings explainer covers how those points feed the ranking.
Who won the Hong Kong Slam?
Patriquin and Staksrud won men’s doubles, Anna Leigh Waters won women’s doubles and mixed, and Hunter Johnson and Andie Dikosavljevic won the singles titles.
Here are the five gold-medal finals. Every score below was read on at least two sources unless noted.

What were the big storylines?
Three storylines stood out: an upset of the top-seeded men’s doubles team, two more golds for Anna Leigh Waters, and back-to-back singles titles in Asia for Johnson and Dikosavljevic.
- Patriquin and Staksrud flipped the Hanoi result. The final was a rematch of the MB Hanoi Cup final that opened the year, which Johns and Tardio won. This time Patriquin and Staksrud won in two games. Pickleball.com says it was the pair’s second title of 2026 and that they did not drop a game in five matches.
- Waters won twice again. Women’s doubles with Bright and mixed with Johns. The Dink framed the mixed final as revenge for the pair’s loss to Bright and Patriquin at the Las Vegas Open.
- Back-to-back singles titles. Hunter Johnson and Dikosavljevic both won the Australian Pickleball Cup in Brisbane the week before. Dikosavljevic beat Castillo in that final too. Pickleball.com counts Hong Kong as her 18th international PPA Tour title.
- Top seeds fell in the quarterfinals. PPA Tour Asia reported that Noe Khlif beat world singles No. 1 Christopher Haworth 13-11, 11-3, and Castillo beat Kaitlyn Christian 11-9, 5-11, 12-10.
- A 15-year-old in the final. Shimabukuro, 15, took silver in men’s singles.
What does the Hong Kong Slam mean for Worlds?
It means men’s doubles is open. Johns and Tardio won the 2026 National Championships together, and they are still the team to beat. But a straight-games loss to Patriquin and Staksrud, one week before the Opendoor Pickleball World Championships (November 2–8, Farmers Branch, Texas), gives that matchup a real edge. Worlds is worth 3,000 points to each champion, double an event like Hong Kong.
On the women’s side, Waters is still collecting titles in pairs. Our Anna Leigh Waters spotlight and Anna Bright spotlight explain why that partnership is so hard to break.
Next up: the MLP Nations Cup (October 30–November 1) and then Worlds, both at Brookhaven Country Club. Our how to watch pro pickleball guide shows where to stream it.
