What is fantasy pickleball?
Same idea as fantasy football, scaled to the pro pickleball tours. You select real professional players, and those players earn you points based on their actual results in real tournaments — a semifinal run, a medal, an upset. Rack up more points than your friends and you win the week (or the season).
Because pickleball’s pro calendar is nearly year-round — the PPA Tour runs roughly September through May, and Major League Pickleball (MLP) fills the summer, May through August — there’s almost always an event to play around.
How scoring works
Scoring is medal-weighted — the further your players advance, the more you bank. Exact values differ by game, but a typical system (used by NML’s season-long league) looks like this:

Many games add an underdog bonus — extra points when a lower-ranked player you rostered goes on a run (for example, a bonus for a Round-of-16 appearance by a player ranked outside the top 25). That’s where fantasy gets strategic: stars are safe, but underdogs win leagues.
The four formats (pick your commitment level)
- Season-long draft — you draft a full roster of men’s and women’s players before the season, then manage a lineup across months of events. The biggest time commitment, the biggest payoff. (Pro Fantasy Pickleball, NML’s season-long league.)
- Per-event snake draft — a quick draft for a single weekend’s tournament. Snake order means picks reverse each round (first pick in round one drafts last in round two), so no two players draft the same roster. Low commitment, high fun. (NML runs these per APP event.)
- Bracket challenge — fill out a tournament bracket and pick winners round by round, like March Madness. (PickleWave’s Bracket Challenge — free.)
- Medalist pick’em — the lightest format: pick the medalists across the categories (men’s, women’s, mixed doubles) — around 15 picks total — and score on accuracy. (MATCHDAY, at pblfg.com — free.)

3. Follow the points race — form matters more than name recognition; a hot mid-tier player can out-score a slumping star.
