Ben Johns age: how old is he right now?
Ben Johns is 27 years old as of October 2026, and he turns 28 on March 18, 2027. His date of birth, March 18, 1999, is published in the data on his PPA Tour athlete page. The Quick Info box on that page also lists his age as 27.
What had Ben Johns done at each age?
Johns turned professional as a teenager and was the top-ranked singles player in the world by 20. Every row below comes from the PPA Tour, Guinness World Records or results we covered at the time.

| 16 or 17 | 2016 | Turned pro. The PPA lists only the year, and he turned 17 that March. |
| 20 | Feb. 2020 | Reached No. 1 in men’s singles and won the first of the singles titles Guinness counts. |
| 25 | April 2024 | The singles No. 1 run ended at 50 months. Guinness record: longest consecutive No. 1 ranking by a male singles player. It included 108 straight match wins. |

Why do sources disagree about Ben Johns’ titles and ranking?
They disagree because each page counts on a different date and in a different way. His age is not in dispute. Three examples from today:
- Titles: Guinness counted 141 PPA titles on October 13, 2024. The PPA page shows 187 now. When we wrote our profile in September, the same PPA page showed 121. The PPA says its totals come from its own results database and leave out other tours.
- No. 1 in all three divisions: one line of the PPA bio says he has held it for “the majority of the time since 2020.” Another line says he has held all three since 2020.
- Singles: Guinness says his singles No. 1 run ended in April 2024.
What does his age mean for players in New England?
It means a late start is not a barrier. Johns turned pro the same year he turned 17, and he was No. 1 in singles before he was 21. Most adults I meet on courts around Leominster started later than that and assume they missed their window.
- Copy his patience. Start with how to dink, then work through the Learn hub by level.
- Get a coach. Our New England coaching directory lists instructors by area.
- Watch him. The PPA page lists the Veolia Chicago Cup, starting October 5, as its next event. The tour schedule we checked in September had no New England date.
