The short answer: USA Pickleball has added nine golden ticket national qualifiers to the 2027 Path to Nationals, announced on September 8. They run from November 2026 through July 2027, they hand out the same priority access to Nationals as the association’s own events, and — for the first time — three of them are in the Eastern time zone. None of them are in New England, but the nearest one is now a drive rather than a flight.
The 30-second version
- Nine new qualifying events were added on September 8, joining the five USA Pickleball owned-and-operated Golden Ticket tournaments announced in August. That is 14 stops on the 2027 calendar so far.
- Same reward. Win an eligible division and you earn a Golden Ticket plus priority registration for the 2027 Nationals. Everyone who enters earns Tiered Point System points.
- The Eastern time zone finally appears. The original five were all Mountain, Pacific or Central. Three of the nine are Eastern: Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida.
- Closest to us: Canonsburg, PA, November 11–15, 2026 — and it is the only stop happening this year.
- Still no New England stop. Fourteen events, zero north of Pennsylvania. More are promised.
Two weeks ago I wrote that the 2027 Golden Ticket calendar was a problem for New England players, because all five announced stops sat in Arizona, Nevada, Alabama, California and Colorado. That has now changed, at least partly. USA Pickleball added nine more qualifying events on Monday, and the map looks meaningfully different than it did in August.
What are the nine new golden ticket national qualifiers?
These are run by independent tournament organizers and facilities rather than by USA Pickleball itself, but the association is explicit that they carry the same qualifying weight as its own events. Here is the full list as announced:

USA Pickleball chief executive Mike Nealy framed the expansion around travel, saying it means more athletes can compete closer to home while chasing a place at Nationals. The association also says more qualifiers will be announced as the 2027 calendar fills in.
Why does this matter if you play in New England?
Because of one number: three.
When the first five stops were announced in August, every single one sat in the Mountain, Pacific or Central time zone. For a club player in Massachusetts or Maine, qualifying meant a flight, a hotel and several days off work — before you had hit a ball.
Of these nine, three are Eastern: Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; Glen Allen, Virginia; and Jacksonville, Florida. The first two are each roughly 600 miles from Boston. That is a long day in the car, not a plane ticket, and for a determined 4.0 with a partner willing to split gas it moves the whole thing from fantasy to logistics.
The honest caveat: fourteen announced stops, and still not one in the Northeast. Nothing in New England, nothing in New York, nothing in New Jersey. The nearest event to Boston is in western Pennsylvania. So this is real progress and an incomplete map at the same time.
What does winning one actually get you?
Two separate things, and it is worth keeping them straight:
- A Golden Ticket. Win an eligible division and you get priority registration access for the 2027 Oceanview USA Pickleball National Championships. In a tournament that sells out, priority access is the prize.
- Tiered Point System points. You do not have to win. Every entrant earns TPS points based on participation and placement, and those points accumulate across the season as a second route toward Nationals.

Which stop makes the most sense from here?
Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, November 11–15, 2026. It is the closest of the fourteen, it is the only one on the calendar this year, and it is at a dedicated club rather than a temporary build-out. If you have been thinking about a qualifying run, this is the one to look at first — and it is two months out, so registration decisions are live now rather than next spring.
After that, Glen Allen, Virginia in May 2027 is the sensible spring target. USA Pickleball has not published exact dates for it yet, so treat May as a placeholder and confirm before booking anything.
What should you do next?
- Check your membership status. Sanctioned play runs through USA Pickleball, so sort that before registration opens rather than the night before.
- Know your real rating. Entering the wrong division is the fastest way to waste an entry fee. Our ratings guide covers how the numbers map to actual play.
