The MLP Playoffs 2026 results are in from Dallas, and if you had the favorites on your card, you had a good weekend. Every higher seed survived the first round (Aug 7–9), setting up a quarterfinal in Newport Beach and a New York City finale that’s worth a New England road trip. Here’s who advanced, who went home, and what it means for the road to the championship.

Who advanced out of the Dallas first round?
The first round pitted seeds 5 through 8 against seeds 9 through 12 in a best-of-two-match format. All four favorites took care of business:
- No. 5 Brooklyn def. No. 10 SoCal Hard Eights. The tightest tie of the weekend — Brooklyn edged the opener 2–1 on a nerve-shredding DreamBreaker that went 24–22, then closed it out 3–1.
- No. 6 Dallas def. No. 11 Las Vegas Night Owls. The host team gave the home crowd a show, winning 3–1 and then sweeping the second match 4–0 — the only sweep of the round.
- No. 7 Palm Beach def. No. 12 Chicago Slice. Palm Beach was the steadier team all weekend, taking both matches by a 3–1 line.
- No. 8 Texas def. No. 9 Atlanta. The closest seeding matchup went the distance twice — Texas won both matches in the DreamBreaker, 21–14 and 21–11.
Which teams were eliminated?
Four teams saw their 2026 season end in Dallas:
- SoCal Hard Eights (No. 10)
- Las Vegas Night Owls (No. 11)
- Chicago Slice (No. 12)
- Atlanta (No. 9)
No true upsets, but the margins tell the story: two of the four ties were decided in the DreamBreaker, the frantic singles-relay tiebreaker that has become MLP’s signature. It’s the format’s great equalizer, and it nearly bit a couple of favorites.
Who were the standout players in Dallas?
A few names separated themselves across the weekend:
- Alshon led every player in the field with a 77.2% points-won rate — the kind of number that wins a team a bye-week’s worth of momentum.
- Jackie Kawamoto owned the tiebreaker, going 8–2 in DreamBreakers — exactly the clutch, all-court speed that decides these ties.
- JW Johnson posted strong, steady results throughout, a reminder of why he’s one of the most complete players in the game.
What’s next — Newport Beach and the New York finale?
The postseason is a three-week climb. Round one is done; here’s the rest of the ladder:
- Quarterfinals — Newport Beach. The four Dallas winners now meet the top four seeds, who earned first-round byes. That group is led by the No. 1 New Jersey 5s — fresh off their fourth event title of the season in Orlando — and includes No. 4 Columbus, the team Dallas is projected to draw.
- Championship Weekend — New York City, Aug 28–30. The survivors play for the title in the biggest market MLP has ever finished in.

Why should New England players care?
Because the finale is practically in the neighborhood. A New York City championship weekend is a drivable day-or-weekend trip from most of New England — roughly three to four hours from North Central Massachusetts — which is as close as top-tier pro pickleball has ever come to our courts. If you’ve only ever watched MLP on a stream, Aug 28–30 is the realistic chance to see a DreamBreaker live.
